About The Practice

Chislehurst Medical Practice took its present name in 1997 but has been a continuous partnership for over sixty years.  The practice first occupied its present site in 1955 when a small purpose built surgery providing 2 consulting suites, waiting room, reception and office was built.  Over the years there have been a number of extensions and alterations with a complete refurbishment in 1997 to provide the current spacious and modem building (premises).  We are a Training Practice and have been established as one for many years.  Before entering General Practice doctors must undergo a three-year post-graduate vocational training, one year of which is spent as a GP Registrar in an approved training practice.

We normally have 2 GP registrars working with us and Drs Patsy Rogers and Richard Scott start with us in August 2008.  Dr Fry, Dr Fraser and Dr Ur-Rub are approved trainers.  A training practice and the trainers have to undergo a rigorous selection process and subsequently a reselection process every 3 years.

The practice also trains undergraduate students from Kings College, Guys and St Thomas's Medical Schools.  Dr Parson is an examiner for undergraduate medical students.

The practice aims to promote the health of its patients and to provide effective care for their illnesses. The practice also believes that it has a responsibility to the local community.

Partners are often involved in issues related to the local health economy through working with: the Local Medical Committee (LMC) - Dr Ur-Rub has been on this committee since 1994.

The partners believe in maintaining a high standard of care and undertake an annual appraisal from an external appraiser.  Dr Ur-Rub is a trained appraiser and appraises doctors from other practices.

The practice was one of the first in Bromley to introduce computers in 1987 and now is fully computerised and virtually paperless.  The practice has been a "Beacon site" for Information Technology.
