A doctor can issue a medical certificate for absence from work due to sickness once the patient has been absent for 7 working days. The first 7-days of absence may be certificated by yourself by completing a "Self Certification" form available from the Surgery or your employers. Occasionally employers insist on a medical certificate issued by a doctor, even if 7 working days have not elapsed. In these circumstances a private certificate can be issued, however an administrative charge will be applied, currently the charge is £15.00 |

We are often asked to write certificates or produce statements to support our patients in areas others than employment. Examples are: fitness to travel, fitness to attend a gym, fitness to fly when pregnant, use of a trolley on a golf course, fitness to perform on stage, to take medical factors into consideration for examinations, help with transfer at airports and stations ..... We are usually happy to do such a certificate and often without having to see you. However on some occasions we may ask you to make an appointment with you doctor. There is a charge for writing such certificates. |
